Cherry Creek Youth Sports (CCYS) is a member of the Colorado Youth Lacrosse Association(CYLA). Currently, the CYLA provides multilevel divisions at each grade level (except 2nd grade) that tries to match teams of equal experience and skill level. Teams from all around the Denver Metro area and Front Range, including Ft. Collins, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Boulder, Pueblo, Evergreen, Loveland, and Wyoming play in the CYLA.
CCYS is not looking to build a lacrosse program based on our knowledge of football, basketball, baseball or volleyball. We understand that to build a successful lacrosse program, we must draw upon the knowledge of those that have spent a lifetime building youth lacrosse in Colorado.
The CCYS mission is to provide outstanding leadership, coaching and administration so that all of our young athletes can learn sportsmanship, teamwork and self-improvement at the level of competition best suited for each.
Lacrosse is a team sport and it is important that all team members attend practice. Individual absence effects team success. Although the CYLA also does not have any minimum play requirements, CCYS believes the only way to improve is to play. The CCYS Boys Lacrosse Program advocates a consistent play time policy, which means our coaches will try to have everyone play consistently. In a close game, some players may see more time than others. Conversely, in a noncompetitive game, other players may see more playing time.
Our primary goal is to offer a community based boys lacrosse program to the underserved neighborhoods and schools located in the Cherry Creek High School attendance areas. The CYLA does not have set boundaries for each of the clubs in the association, but CCYS wants to primarily focus only on young athletes that meet the following criteria:
Live In Cherry Creek School Territory

Attend Cherry Creek Schools
Beacon County Day School, Belleview Elementary, Campus Middle School, Cherry Creek Academy, Cherry Creek High School, Cottonwood Creek Elementary, Cherry Hills Elementary, Dry Creek Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, Heritage Elementary, High Plains Elementary, Holly Ridge, Holly Hills, Homestead Elementary, St. Thomas More Catholic School, Samuels Elementary, Southmoor Elementary, Walnut Hills Elementary, West Middle School, and Willow Creek Elementary.
If CCYS is unable to field complete rosters that meet the above criteria, the organization will consider the following “in-district” and “out of district” ratio as guidance:
Roster Size - Maximum # of Out of Territory Players
19 or Less - 4
20-21 - 5
22 or More - 6
We look forward to providing you a great 2011 Lacrosse Season. Please be on the lookout for further announcements and clinics/camps in the coming weeks!!!!!
